Welcome to Tulsa Area Clean Cities!

FUNDING AVAILABLE for Clean Diesel Activities! (click here for RFP)  For fiscal year 2008, Congress appropriated funds for the first time under the Energy Policy Act (2005) to help reduce emissions from heavy-duty diesel engines. Through the National Clean Diesel Program, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) will award grants to assist its eligible partners in building diesel emission reduction programs across the country that improve air quality and protect public health. For fiscal year 2008, the Blue Skyways Collaborative anticipates awarding over $4 million. Proposals Due by May 30, 2008.

Tulsa Area Clean Cities

A better environment, increased national energy security, reduced dependence on imported oil, more economic opportunities, and the protection of public health through the promotion of alternative fuels are the result of the Tulsa Area Clean Cities efforts.

Through outreach and education, Tulsa Area Clean Cities promotes a positive public perception of AFVs by highlighting the successes and positive attributes of alternative fuels, educating fleets on alternative fuels, vehicle availability, and refueling options and focusing our grant writing efforts at projects that will have the greatest fuel displacement and air quality benefits.

The objectives of the Clean Cities program are:

  • to facilitate the deployment of alternative fuel vehicles (AFVs)
  • to support the installation of an alternative fuel refueling infrastructure throughout the nation
  • to increase the use of fuel blends (diesel/biodiesel, ethanol/gasoline, and compressed natural gas (CNG)/hydrogen)
  • to accelerate sales of hybrid electric vehicles
  • to promote informed consumer choice on fuel economy
  • to encourage the use of idle reduction technologies for heavy-duty trucks and other vehicles

In addition, Clean Cities supports the objectives of the Clean Air Act Amendments of 1990 and the Energy Policy Act of 1992.

Tulsa Area Clean Cities is a 501(c)(3) organization hosted by the Indian Nations Council of Governments (INCOG).  The program is a self sustaining coalition in good standing with National Clean Cities, Inc. and is funded by INCOG, the Oklahoma Department of Commerce, U.S. Dept of Energy, and the U.S. Dept of Transportation.

Bringing you a prosperous future where energy is clean, abundant, reliable, and affordable
